Considering a bathroom renovation? Here’s our top 5 tips for a new bathroom.

    By howard | Blog, Featured | 4 comments | 29 June, 2019 | 0

Ask any real estate agent, bathrooms and kitchens sell houses. A bathroom renovation can significantly increase the value of your home. Even if you have no intention of selling, who doesn’t love the idea of a brand new, highly functional bathroom at their disposal.

So, if you have decided an bathroom renovation is for you, we have our 5 top tips for ensuring the project is successful and the desired result is achieved.

    1. Hire professional, qualified tradespeople

This is a no-brainer. While it may be tempting to cut costs by carrying out some of the work yourself, this is a false economy. Qualified tradespeople possess the expertise and know-how to see the potential issues that can occur. For example, a plumber can easily assess if waste pipe work and water lines need upgrading or must be replaced. Attempting to save a few dollars now could potentially cost you a fortune down the track. In addition to this, ensure your plumber can perform all of the tasks required to complete your bathroom renovation. Ask to see qualifications and examples of previous bathroom renovation work.

    2. Plan your bathroom layout and stick to it!

Making changes half way through your renovation can be a costly exercise. Spend the time thinking about exactly what you want in your new bathroom and be sure to discuss this with your plumber. Quite often, a good plumber will make valuable suggestions that hadn’t even occurred to you!

    3. Purchase the best quality fittings your budget will allow

Do not skimp when it comes to selecting your new tapware, fixtures and fittings. Your trusted plumber can suggest the best quality brands within your budget. They can also assist you with selecting the best materials for your desired finish. If you’re keen to incorporate a ‘wow’ factor, consider installing a double shower if space allows or perhaps a more luxurious bath. Again, your plumber can assist you with these considerations.

    4. Keep it simple

While you may love those extremely fancy, intricate taps now, will you still love them every time you have to clean them? Keeping it simple is quite often the key to a successful bathroom renovation. The same applies to your bathroom layout. Your experienced plumber can assist you so costs associated with relocating pipework (if necessary) can be minimised. And if you know you will still love those fancy taps every time you clean them, then by all means, go for it!

    5. Keep on top of costs involved

A reputable plumber will always provide transparent, up-front costings. The last thing you need is a nasty surprise and the end of your bathroom project.
